The Wakefield Foundation
Preserving history. Building community. Enriching lives.
A Community Center Rooted in Wakefield's Heritage
The Wakefield Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation organized to preserve and restore the former Wakefield High School building — now a vibrant community center serving the residents of Wakefield and Sussex County.
The Foundation is committed to preserving local history, providing educational opportunities, and offering programs and activities for the well-being of the community. In 2022, the Foundation was selected as a Lowe's Hometowns Signature Project — the only project in Virginia chosen that year.
The Foundation operates through corporate and individual donations. All contributions help improve the facility and support community programming.
